As I' m making more necklaces for this line, I' m testing posibilities for the necklace ending, like a chain or a cord, instead of semiprecious stones. These posibilities make the piece "lighter" and more suitable for everyday wear and differentiate the price of the piece, thus giving more options to the retail client or the gallery/shop.

Just before closing my workshop for my summer vacation, I made a few more test pieces for my new September line. A necklace with hematite stones, silver, goldplated silver and zircons or semiprecious stones, a pair of earrings in silver with zircons and a necklace with goldplated silver chain and mother of pearl. I really liked this hematite's cut and this is what led me to this design, with a lot of tube set stones of course. I hope you liked them. Many more pieces to come...
Your customers liked very much the designs you made for their custom-made order. However, they express the desire to see the real item and to look themselves in the mirror while wearing it. This way, they can deside if they want changes or even decide if they will buy it, depending on how good it looks on them. For these reasons, I usually make test pieces of the jewel, in silver and gold paper, adding all the elements of the design (stones, little metal pieces etc.). Of course, paper has it's limits as a material, but in most cases the result is excellent! The paper pieces look like real jewellery and they can be worn as real pieces, in order to be tested by customers!
Photos from test pieces for my new jewellery collections. Light short and long necklaces, with small semiprecious stones, chains, cords, silver in all possible finishes and small, colorful, semiprecious stones set in silver tubes (love!).
I always feel excited when designing new collections! More pieces to come ... Prototypes in copper, ready for molding, next to the corresponding sketches. Custom-made pieces for a christening, to decorate fabric pouches with candies, that are offered to the guests.
Photo from my bench. From the sketch to the creation. Test piece in bronze for a leaves earring in 14ct gold. Sketching something before proceeding with the fabrication is, in most cases, absolutely necessary. Especially when it comes to custom-made creations, where the customer participates in the designing process.
Searching for new designs never ends. Many times, during my work on an order, elements that are ready on my bench or waiting for the final finish, catch my eyes as they are lying there, one next to the other. New pieces start to emerge, which I always photograph because they will be forgotten shortly!
These photos from my bench are from test pieces for new necklaces, for my foldformed collection and they will be constructed soon, to be ready for September. I hope you like them! |
